Trends, benefits and new data in the tourism and hotel industries

Τhe tourism and hotel industry is one of the most dynamic and dominant sectors in modern society, representing not only the development of tourism activities, but also the creation of jobs and the opportunity for growth and innovation.

Randstad, the global leader in the HR services industry, has included the tourism and hotel sector in the wider HR Trends survey, which it publishes every year. The 2023 report examines market trends and challenges, as well as how businesses are adapting to the current economic conditions, proing valuable insight into the strategic direction of the industry.

As eenced by the findings of the HR Trends survey for the tourism and hotel industry, attracting the right human resources is a significant challenge, mainly due to the high salary expectations of candidates (90%). In addition, limited work experience and skills (68%) and less than the required years of work (58%) are significant obstacles to the recruitment strategy of companies in Greece.

Offering a competitive salary and benefits (42%), combined with career development opportunities (42%), are the top issues that make a company attractive to candidates.

On the other hand, 82% of employees leave their current job in order to receive higher salaries or more favorable working conditions, while 38% to improve their professional future and career, at a different employer.
