United Nations believes Israeli tank fire killed staffer in Rafah

Ειδήσεις Ελλάδα

The United Nations said its staff member Waibhav Anil Kale, 46, was killed in Rafah on Monday in an attack on a U.N. vehicle. The shots that killed the worker “came from a tank in the area,” a spokesman for the U.N. Secretary General said later Tuesday, noting that only Israel operates tanks in Gaza. The car was marked with a U.N. flag, and Israeli authorities had been informed of its movements, a different U.N. spokesman told reporters earlier in the day. The Israel Defense Forces said Monday that they had not been made aware of the route of the vehicle, adding that the incident was “under review.”
