Lamine Diack, a onetime politician in Senegal who became the powerful head of the IAAF, the international organization governing track and field, only to be convicted in a corruption scandal linked to bribes to cover up positive drug tests by athletes, died Dec. 3 at his home in Senegal. He was 88.
